In the exhibition, you will encounter everything from tiny glittering minerals to explosive volcanic eruptions and plate tectonics. Younger museum visitors can also measure radioactive minerals, assemble a puzzle of Earth’s continents and touch lava and fossils.
An impressive wall of minerals tells the story of mineral diversity and the evolution of life on our planet. You can also have a into Earth’s past and the processes that have contributed to the climate crisis we face today.
The exhibition opens together with the new museum on March 6, 2027.
Highlights from the exhibition
- Experience a spectacular selection of beautiful minerals on the nine-metre-long mineral wall and discover how minerals help shape landscapes, technology and life itself.
- Travel back to the beginning of life on Earth through a large-scale projection of hydrothermal vents on the ocean floor, which may have created the first conditions for life.
- Touch stones and fossils from Denmark and explore them through a large animation showing how ordinary beach stones contain both beauty and hidden stories about their formation.
