The museum is a workplace with 250 colleagues divided into four departments: Research, Collections, Exhibition & Public, and Administration & Operations. Therefore, we also have many different professional backgrounds, such as: Conservators, researchers, craftsmen, curators, finance and IT specialists, designers, gardeners, intermediary, store staff and much more.

About the museum
The Natural History Museum Denmark is Denmark’s national museum of natural history and an inernational centre of knowledge in the fields of biodiversity, nature and the evolution of life. The museum houses around 14 million specimens collected over 400 years, as well as living collections comprising approximately 8,000 plant species in the Botanical Garden. The collections provide the foundation for world-class research and for the museum’s public engagement and outreach.
In 2027, a new, unified museum will open in the Botanical Garden in the heart of Copenhagen. Here, research, collections and public engagement will come together in modern facilities that strengthen both the museum’s scientific profile and the visitor experience. The new museum building will house exhibitions, research, collection and teaching facilities, a restaurant, a shop and more.
At a time characterised by climate change and loss of biodiversity, natural history museums play a vital role. The Natural History Museum of Denmark works to strengthen the connection between people and nature through research-based knowledge and public engagement that makes complex relationships understandable and relevant. The ambition is to inspire a sense of wonder that leads to insight and engagement with the future of nature.
