The autumn break is also your last chance to experience the exhibitions at Øster Voldgade before we close to the public on 1 November 2026. This will allow us to prepare for the opening of the new museum building on 6 March 2027.
Get up close to animals from around the world as our museum educators bring out fascinating skulls, jaws, skins and other intriguing specimens. Guess the cave bear, pet a snow leopard or take a peek into the jaws of a great white shark. You can also put your knowledge to the test with quizzes and a treasure hunt.
Bring your favourite soft toy to the museum, and meet the museum’s Teddy Bear Zoologists. They will identify the species of your plush friend and give it an official museum tag.

Drop by the Botanical Workshop and try your hand at planting cuttings, creating your own herbarium sheet and making a beautiful botanical drawing – all ready to take home with you.
Time: Tuesday–Friday during week 42, 11am–3pm
Location: Public Engagement Greenhouse, the Botanical Garden
Outside in the Botanical Garden, enjoy the beautiful red and golden colours of autumn while warming up with a cup of hot chocolate from the coffee cart. You can also take a trip to the tropics in the Palm House or marvel at the wonderful transformation of live butterflies in the Butterfly House.
