Children's birthday party in the Botanical Garden
Accompanied by one of the museum's hosts, the birthday child and guests are invited on an expedition in the Botanical Garden. We open the large expedition chest, which contains real scientific objects from near and far, setting the stage for a story about scientists and explorations, field studies, and collections.
Together, we embark on a discovery journey in the historic botanical garden, where the children explore and investigate the fascinating world of plants. We engage all the senses and delve into topics such as pollination, seed dispersal, flowers' adaptation to life in water, medicinal, toxic, or edible plants.
The expedition concludes in the Botanist's Workshop, where the children create their very own botanical souvenir to take home.
Birthday Party Includes
- An captivating introduction to expeditions and explorations (approx. 15 minutes)
- Expedition in the Botanical Garden – a special child-friendly guided tour (approx. 45 minutes)
- Workshop in the Botanist's Workshop, where we conduct a creative botanical activity (approx. 30 minutes)
- Private birthday table in the Educational Greenhouse or the outdoor pavilions, where you can set up for the hungry expedition participants and celebrate the birthday child (1 hour)*
*Birthday celebrations starting at 1:00 PM begin with the celebration at the birthday table, followed by the introduction to explorations, the expedition, and the workshop.
Bookings should normally be made at least 10 days before the desired date, and please note that availability is subject to existing reservations.

Practical Information
Time: Children's birthday parties can be booked on Saturdays and Sundays starting at 10:00 AM or 1:00 PM
Period: April–June and August–September
Number of Participants and Price:
- Up to 20 people (maximum 15 children and at least 2 adults)*
Total price: 2,000 DKK (+ booking fee) - Up to 30 people (maximum 25 children and at least 3 adults)*
Total price: 3,000 DKK (+ booking fee)
* Participating adults are expected to join in the expedition and activities and assist the children throughout. The Botanical Garden is a living museum with invaluable plants from around the world. All participants are therefore expected to adhere to the garden's rules.
Age Group: The birthday party is aimed at children aged 7–12 years.
Food and Drink: You can use the Educational Greenhouse or the outdoor pavilions, which are reserved exclusively for your group for one hour. You bring your own food and drinks. Chairs, tables, and a refrigerator are available.
You can borrow reusable tableware in festive colors. You are responsible for washing any borrowed tableware within the hour you have available. Equipment for handwashing is provided.
Decorations: We will decorate with a birthday flag on the table and a couple of garlands with Danish flags and colorful pennants. If you wish to bring your own decorations, you are very welcome to do so. However, we kindly ask that you avoid confetti. Balloons should be tied to strings and secured, as they can easily end up in the garden otherwise.
